Marine Debris Data at Cape Perpetua

Slowly but surely, after much reorganization and leadership by the chapter, we're starting to get a little data on the marine debris transect at Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve. A couple of years ago, the Siuslaw Chapter adopted this transect as part of the NOAA Shoreline Monitoring ProgramMuch of the interest of the program was driven from the Japan Tsunami debris, however the ongoing work is really all about establishing clear baselines that will allow us to track debris over time, as well as focus our efforts on the most problematic types of debris. Check out what they found on their first transect day! Below is a quick snapshot of some of the data, you'll notice a few gaps from the past where very little debris was found. The group goes out once a month on a low tide to do the transect and collect data. Contact Jon to get involved!
