Come learn about the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve this weekend and some of the activities you can get involved with at this special place! From Library presentations to field activities and hands-on citizen science, there's a little something for everyone.

June 27, Bromley Room @ Noon

Come to the Library and learn about the Oregon marine reserves, marine debris monitoring on local beaches, and the importance of ocean health. Featuring Audubon Portland’s Ten Mile Creek Sanctuary Manager Paul Engelmeyer and Surfrider volunteer and local Chemistry teacher Jon Hornung.

June 28, Muriel O Ponsler @ 10am

Join us at this beach just south of Yachats where Library and Surfrider volunteers will walk the beach and conduct vital science cataloging the state of the shore as part of a nationwide National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration initiative.

June 28, Cape Perpetua @ 11am

We’ll meet at the top of the Cape at 11am for a short ramble and nature talk with Paul Engelmeyer along with an exploration of the coastal rainforest unique to Oregon. Interested trekkers are invited to head out on a longer hike after the event, and sack lunches are recommended.

Presented by the Siuslaw Public Library in partnership with the Siuslaw Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation
