In Partnership with the Oregon Marine Debris Team (OMDT) the local Siuslaw Surfrider Chapter will present a workshop this Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30pm at the old Windward Inn restaurant on Hwy 101 N.
These workshops are being held along the coastal communities to call on volunteers already interested in cleaning efforts from the 2011 Tsunami in Japan.
While many people may think it is the large items that are a major concern, it is the ongoing increase in smaller items of foam, plastics, other marine debris, and the unknown is what concerns coastal residents and many groups. There is an estimated 1.5 million tons of debris from the Tsunami circulating Pacific Ocean.
Please join us this Tuesday to learn what we can do to Partner with our State Parks to keep our beaches clean.
