Large swell events, storm surges and west winds have brought TONS of debris to every stretch of the Oregon coast in the last couple months. Thankfully there's a strong ethic of caring for our public beaches here in OR, especially with our Surfrider crews!
The Siuslaw Chapter captained the South Jetty area here in Florence, where we had 72 volunteers haul in over 150 bags, at least 3x full truckloads, estimated at over 4500 lbs of debris! Special thanks to the local Coast Guard crew who showed up in force and Ninkasi Brewing and Bigfoot Beverages for providing thank you refreshments for all the volunteers!
