Protecting Special Places...Keeping the Ocean, Waves & Beaches Clean

The Siuslaw Chapter has officially adopted a 2 mile stretch of scenic coastal Highway 101 along one of the most beautiful stretches in Oregon from Washburn State Park to Ocean Beach Wayside between the communities of Florence and Yachats. This adoption is part of the Chapters efforts to foster the spirit of stewardship, raise awareness, and educate the general public about the problems that plastics and styrofoam create in the marine environment. Volunteers turned out in full force on an amazing day sponsored by the month of January and were able to collect over 20 bags of trash that would have otherwise ended up on the beach and in the ocean. Thank you to all that participated, and big ups to Richard for leading the charge! To get involved with the Chapter, attend the regular monthly meetings held on the 2nd Friday of the month @ 6pm in the Wakonda Brewery Tasting Room on Kingwood, or contact Volunteer Coordinator Jon Tipple at jonandjaine@bmi.net
